Diverting the object’s initial function by suspending it vertically like a painting, a stretcher was transformed into a museum piece that invited contemplation rather than use. When seen up close, the camouflage pattern morphed into an image of two football players, combining the two contexts in which stretchers are most likely to be used: war and sport. The sewing thread on the footballers’ shoes invited further interpretations.
